“A good conscience is the best preparation you can have.”
I recently stumbled across Lisa Bieberman, who authored manuals in 1967 that are strikingly similar to my own work.
Bieberman was involved with Timothy Leary and Richard Alpert’s circle at Harvard and later founded the Psychedelic Information Center in Cambridge. In 1967, she published Session Games People Play: A Manual for the Use of LSD, followed by Phanerothyme: A Western Approach to the Religious Use of Psychochemicals in 1968.
Two passages on preparation resonate:
“Actually you have been preparing all your life, and those many years of preparation will outweigh anything you can do in a short time before the session.”
And:
“A good conscience is the best preparation you can have.”
That’s exactly what I’ve learned doing this work. You bring your life into the experience with you, including your relationships, choices, behavior, beliefs, and conscience.
I wrote the Magic Mushroom Guide that provides DIY and preparation guidance first, then The Sacrament of Truth that casts a larger vision for what I believe to be the proper cultural application. She did essentially the same in 1967.
History repeats.
